: HI, i was just wondering a couple questions...
: first
: How often does everyone clean out there cages?
: second
: How long would you wait to introduce a female weanling to a ten month old male?
: Thanks to everyone who answers!
: Brooke

We change & wipedown our cages once at least once a week, and once a month do a really really
good scrub down on the whole thing in the shower.

I have a male who is 8-10mo old, and just bought a female (oop 9/27/98) on 12/5/98. Although
she bullied the male on Sunday 12/6, I let them alternately peek and sniff at each other on the outside
of each others cages Monday 12/7 & Tuesday 12/8. On Wednesday 12/9(for grins), I put them together in a
NEW cage, neutral ground so to speak. To my amazement, they fell totally in LOVE. He just rubbed and
loved all over her, and she loved every minute of it, not a peep out of her. When he stopped and went
to investigate the rest of the cage, she followed him and begged for more. They have just been the
little honeymooners for last few days, but then Beau's a pretty laid back kinda sg.

But on the other hand, the breeder that sold the baby to me told me how a guy in Houston bought a young
female for his older male and gradually set their cages closer together over until they could touch.
Everything seemed to be going well. He went to bed on evening, and woke to a horrible sight. The male
had reached through his bars, grabbed the female, and bit her to death. Very Sad.

Gliders are so unpredictable. Just take it slow and dont leave them in unattended contact until you are
ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN no one is going to flip out. You'll be able to tell.

The Very Best Wishes to you and your youngin's
