The only stories of self mutilation that I have come across, all involved a problem resulting in irritation of an area, usually the rectal region. Is it possible that the scent gland there on his chest was infected, blocked, or irritated in some way? I do know people with single male gliders that are at least three years old and un-neutered and they are not having problems like this. It could be something to watch for though and not just an isolated incident. Thanks for the info, the warning, and the and the tip off of a potential problem.
