: My kids have been on a mission for several months now inquiring about the cute little Sugar Gliders. They are now ready to be great friends to two gliders. We are in the Dallas/Ft Worth Area. This is part of their Christmas present but unfortunately the only one's I could find where at a pet store. Please help me make these two kids happy. My email address again is lyndac@uspersonnel.com

Tried to email you and it was returned. Here is what I sent:

I saw your posting to glider gossip. You say your children are ready
but the real question is are *you* ready?

These are high maintenance animals.
They require at least four hours per day attention. This means out of
the cage exercise. They are not (at all) potty trainable.
They have very strict dietary requirements. If you do not give them a
vitamin/mineral supplement they will die. First they become paralyzed at
the hips and if left untreated they will die. See this site for
details:http://www.blarg.net/~critter/articles/gliders/glider4.aspl.

They are also nocturnal. They usually rise at about 9pm and are bedded
down by dawn as a rule. During the night they can be quit noisy. They
make a bark that sounds like a small dog, a racheting sound when
startled.

Unless you want to be breeding gliders I would recommend two of the same
sex or a neutered male with a female. Gliders have four litters per
year. One to three in litters.

We currently have two males for adoption and are located in Farmers Branch,TX.
If you would like to come by and see them let me know and I
will send you my phone number. If this has not turned you
off to the idea then let me know, bounty1@airmail.net.
