Sugar Gliders aren't born with a trusting instinct, they have to learn trust. Be patient, be gentle and be consistent, it'll happen very slowly. Before reaching in, wash your hands and then handle some of their bedding to get his scent on you. Offer a knuckle or fist in case he goes to bite. Keep putting corn syrup or honey on your finger or offering him treats, soon he'll see those big human hands aren't there to hurt him, but to give him treats and attention. The change can be slow, so slow it's discouraging, but keep at it. E mail me anytime if you want to exchange ideas and stuff. I'm learning too. Susan
: I just got a new glider and am so excited but I do have a problem. I saw the glider a year ago in a near by pet store and fell in love. I saved and finally got the little guy. He was hand raised but during his long stay in the pet store he never got any human attention. So here's the question...will he adapt to me?? He makes that weird...cribbing sound when I go to feed him and such. (you know the sound that resembles a party favor, it's very loud) Scares the crap out of me. He is extremely skittish...and I feel so bad so....do you have any suggestions?
