I told you, at first give him all he wants . do this for the first day or two. it will not hurt him for only a day or two. Mealworms are high in protein, 4 mealworms on the first feeding is not that many.. in fact they can eat as many as 10, in the wild if they came upon a bunch of mealworms do you think they would stop? Roy I am so very glad to see you are concerned about your glider, and the fact that you are asking a lot of questions and are THAT concerned just shows that you love your little man and really want what is best for him. You are on the right track to be a wonderful glider owner, I hope that you continue to love him in the future as you do now. The fat deposits in the eyes and causes for cataracts, as as if yet still totally unknown, as with people, it can happen to any glider at any time, it may be in the genetics, You will find a lot of controversial issues concerning these cataracts, fats, lactose intolerance, sunlight, cat food, etc..Take what you hear from people and listen to your heart, It is almost impossible to avoid fats altogether, so the issue here is how much is too much. Your glider can get obese, but it can also lose that weight as well. I know people with obese gliders that have helpped them lose the weight, as well as gliders that are extremely thin gain weight. Let us take this scenero.. Cakes, and candy isn't heathy for a child to eat as a MEAL each day, but on the holidays, halloween, thansgiving, Christmas, birthdays etc.. some kids gorge themselves, and some eat some candy every day, maybe a piece of cake for deserts. But those kids don't necessarily get fat and die of sugar diabetes. You will notice that your glider has a high metabolism rate, it must have calories to burn it off. Whe we talked I told you to give him all he wants for a couple of days.. then you can limit them if you wish. You are in a training process to tech your glider that good things come from your hands, the fav is mealworms, crickets, moths, etc.. it is also a necessary PART of their diet, By giving them mealworms as a MEAL isn't good. But there is absolutly nothing wrong with giving them as a treat. mine get 3 per day every day. but then again at the first eating mine ate 8 and that day i'll bet i gave her about 15 that whole day, the next day she didn't eat as many she ate about 5 then she was done per setting a couple of times a day. From the third day. she slacked a lot . if she was to eat all she wants at a sitting she may eat 4 and that is pushing it. but as a general rule now they get 1 at each of our meals, about 3 per day. My gliders are not fat, they are healthy and happy, and they love the hands that are giving them the treats. Roy, follow your heart.
