Ariana,
I sent the response this message to your private email address by mistake, I hope that is o.k.

: : : Hi everyone,

: : : The first thing I would like to say is thank you to all of you who responded to me previous messages. This is a great way to visit with other glider owners, now I need your advice.

: : : I have 2 gliders who are quite tame and I want them to stay that way so my question is how do i play with them during the day when I hear and read so much about how they should not be disturbed while they are sleeping.

: : : I read that waking them up in the middle of the day would be like waking you up in the middle of the night and expecting you to want to play without crabbing or trying to run back to bed, which is what my gliders do.

: : : I carry them in a fanny pack during the day as much as I can but all they do is sleep so not much bonding or playing goes on then.

: : : I work in the mornings and have a boy to get to school so staying up late in the evenings is not an option for me.

: : : Sorry to be so long winded but this is really bothering me so if anyone could please help me out I would be very pleased.

: : : Thanks

: Sherry,

: They will stay tame if keep taking them everywhere with you. Part of the bonding process with these little fellows is smell, sound and movement. So because the two of them go everywhere with you....they are already bonding! ;) But what you can do is while they are sleeping put your hand in the pouch and scratch behind their ears or under their chins.....they'll love it! Are your awake early morning, I mean around 6-7...you could kinda play with them then if you are not to busy with kids and work. Even just for a half hour or so, then they'll get tired and want back into their pouch to goto bed.

: Pico, my male glider, comes with me everywhere....and I love it! He is totally bonded now and if I leave without him in the morning he fusses until I go and get him. Spoiled brat :) but I love it! And there is nothing wrong with waking them up sometimes through out the day. A lady I know wakes her glider up at noon to play and then he goes back to sleep....totally content. They are remarkable little animals, you would be surprised at what they will do!

: So Good Luck and Happy Glidering from both of us......Ariana and Pico!

: : The simple act of being with you during the day in the fanny pack, pouch, etc. helps the bonding process itself... You don't really have to "play", but simply having them close to you during the day can definitely help the bonding. Hope this helps
