Message: In Reply to: I have a new glider, need advice. posted by Jason R. on February 01, 1999 at 15:47:44: most people say that your glider's cage must be at least 20 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 30 inches tall. bigger is always better. there is no hamster cage out there that i know of that is large enough for a sugar glider. if you can't give him a cage that is at least that big, you NEED to give him to someone who will. this is serious, gliders must have enough room to run around and glide or they will be very upset and may die! yes, a little house would be a very good thing to put in for your glider, but make sure it's big enough for him to fit in. he will probably stay in there most of the time because he is scared. also, in case you didn't know, gliders sleep during the day and are awake at night. you need to feed him fresh fruits and vegetables, and many other people use special sugar glider food that you can mail order. also ver important, is that you MUST spend a minimum of 2 hours a day with your gliders, otherwise it will become very lonely and may die! if you can't do this and you can't stay up later at night to spend time with him then you should give him to someone that can. if you have any other questions i'm sure someone here can answer them. ayala
