I would start handling your glider as soon as possible. I was very nervous about mine
when I first got it, but these animals are tiny and aren't really going to
hurt you-you could do a lot more damage to them. I wouldn't use gloves to handle
them-let them get used to you, not rubber, I think you would be a lot less foreign.
Try wrapping the glider in a small piece of cloth (nest cloth?) and hold her while she is sleeping.
Talk to her, and pet her. I wouldn't be too worried about the glider getting away at that age.
She probably will try to get to the safety of the cage. Neither of my gliders really hide, either.
They don't go out of their way to fit into tight spots and hide from us, they just like exploring
shelves and stuff. IF you bond with your glider soon, it will use you as safety and come back to you
when it is out exploring and needs to feel safe. Just let her out, see what she does, and keep a close eye on her.
YOu probably will be surprised at how good these pets are! If they like you, they will want you to share in
their fun and keep coming back to you to play. Don't worry, the less scared you are of your glider, the less scared it
will be of you. And the biting doesn't hurt too much!
