What I currently feed my gliders are several grapes cut in half, some apple, corn, ledbetters mix,a few pieces of turkey, and I always leave Iams cat food out for them. i have tried the Brisky's glider food but they seem to pick over it. I sprinkle Gliderade over the food. I also try other veggies such as peas and carrots but they don't eat much of them. My gliders don't go after mealworms or crickets either. One thing to keep in consideration in relation to hind leg paralysis is it isn't always diet related. Their are viral infections that can cause symptoms similar to hind leg paralysis and lack of excercise can contribute to the atrophy of muscles. Treatment of HLP varies but it usually consists of diet change i.e adding calcium such as yogurt to diet and Gliderade or Glider Boost. Depending on the severity of the HLP, a calcium injection may be necessary. The important thing is to make sure the glider stays warm, hydrated and eats. They can become hypoglycemic within 24 hours and die. I do have specific medication dosages if anyone is interested.
