Subject: Renegate gone AWOL (True Story this time)
Posted by Vette on February 08, 1999 at 23:01:42:

Sunday Evening, while I was away, my roomate left me a message informing me that after playtime, Renegade decided he didn't want to go back inside his cage. (Guess he wasn't done yet.) Unlike our femail (Notch), He will nip at her, so she won't pick him up. He never bites me...hehe. Anyway, Instead of leaving the door open so he could return later, she closed it so Notch wouldn't run off too. Well, when I got home, Renegade was no where to be found. I knew he couldn't have gotten out of the bedroom, but he is a very good hider. Well, I gave up, knowing he'd come back when he had his fill of fun. I left the door open for him though. Notch might come out if she wants, but she always goes back in. The next morning, he was still not inside his cage. Notch was there, all alone and wondering where her hubby was. Well, when I got home from work, I guess he decided to come home. They funny thing was, is that he wasn't allowed in the nest box! He was in the doghouse for sure, and ended up sleeping in an empty bowl. Haha, Serves him right. This evening, during play time, I decided I wanted to see where it was he was hiding. So I left the room to go get some grapes. Sure enough when I got back, he had made a run for it. Turns out he likes to jump up into the top of my closet and leap from one side of it to the other. He last jump landed him square on my head. You know its really a blessing that these guys are as smart as they are. I mean, you leave a hamster or gerbil cage open and those kind will run away, and never come back. At least these guys know where home is. Thats all for now.
