Subject: Does anyone know the nutritional content of ladybugs?

Greetings! Hello from myself and my glider, Java. he won't eat crickets, worms (of any kind), etc. I worry he is not getting enough protein. He is on a staple diet of Brisky's Accu-feed, supplemented with Glider-ade and miscellaneous fruits. In Missouri, we are currently overrun with ladybugs. He seems to enjoy catching them and eating them. As he is not eating any other kind of insect, and seems not to suffer adversely from them; does any one have any information on why I shouldn't let him eat them? Also, he is seeming to bond very slowly. I have had him approximatley 6 weeks, and play with him every evening for about 4-5 hours. Although, sometimes as little as three. I don't carry him around in the day. I have an evening job, sleep in the daytime, and get home around 11:30 p.m. we get along well enough, I just wanted to know if a longer adjustment period would be needed because of the fact that I don't carry him around in the daytime. I know this is long, but one last thing.......he likes to try to eat my candles! He will even try to eat the unscented ones! I can understand how scented ones might smell like food, but the unscented ones. By the way, I don't let him do this. He just keeps trying to. Persistant little tree-rat! (And I mean that affectionately.) Thank you, Ms. Rogers for this lovely site and for providing us with a forum to share our love for our critters. Many thanks to any of you who respond. Blessed Be! Kris and Java
