: : : : : For those of you who have read my book, you know the story of how and why Pockets became quite ill. You also know that he is very much alive and breeding today, 4 years later. : : : For those of you who have not, a quick synopsis of pockets is that he was a very PICKY eater and refused all types of protein offered to him. I thought that when his body needed it, he would then eat it but that was not the case, he nearly died first. There was nothing else lacking in his diet either. He had calcium, D3, E and selenium too. : : : We quickly learned that we had to force him to eat the proteinwhich is why we developed the 4 day rotation. The logical side will be understood if you ask yourself one simple question "If you offered a child a choice between a bowl of ice cream and a bowl of broccoli, which would they choose?" The same applies to a glider when all of the choices are put on a plate at the same time. Pockets was the first offspring of my original pair and my daughter wanted to keep him. Thankfully we did just that. : : : One very important factor here is that an overdose of calcium or selenium can be fatal to a glider also. Both nutrients can be found in foods that gliders eat so there is no need to give them as supplements. Mine are not nor have ever been on a supplement of anykind as part of their regular diet. Pockets had a total vitamin supplement as he was getting well that we discontinued when he was better and he has not been on it since. : : : My 4 day rotation has been posted earlier so you can refer back to it. I do not answer private e-mails but am more than happy to talk with any of you VIA phone if there is something that you are not clear about. Both, Bourbon and Jo have permission to give out my phone number. : : : : About what date was this diet posted on??? : : Melinda & Micah : Melinda, : The 4 day diet was posted by JO on Feb.11,1999. : The post is...Re: JO: Please read, I have questions... : Hope this helps! : Michele
