Hello Shunte!

I have only had my gliders for approx 2 months therefore I am certainly no expert. There are some very solid people on this board though that are kind enough to provide very helpful info.

My experiences have been:

1. We bought two gliders from two different pet stores. 1 pet store had about 20 VERY young gliders in a small cage and did not seem to know much about them. The other pet store only have a few gliders at a time and really know about them - go with your instincts, especially if you have read about them. Read some of the posts here (in particlar from Bourbon, Debbie, Jo and many others; Jo had an experience with a sick glider and has nursed him back to health).

2. I use a coated cage. My understanding with the coated cage is they do not get their nails caught in it.

3. We have one pair and have a 2x2x3 cage.

4. We tried the wooden box - but it started to smell real bad, couldn't get the urine out of it; we now have a plastic hamster ball (not the kind they run around in) with many large holes in it.

5. We have cut up old T-shirts for their nesting ball.

6. I use the leadbedders diet along with Nutriglider supplement, fresh fruits, veggies, baby food (make sure it does not have onion powder, I heard onions were poisinous to them) we offer nuts but they don't seem to like them, monkey protein cubes, yogart and ocassionally a morsel or two of kitten food. (again, read this board, there are some really knowledgable people on here who have posted many good diets)

I hope this helps - and get prepared to become addicted to your little babies, we have.

Good luck - Christi
: Hello,I am a soon to be owner and breeder. I have don
e a great deal of research on sugar gliders and have bought every book on them. But, before I purchase my first pair I want to get some other breeders' insight on them. I want to have everything ready for when I bring them home. So here are my questions. Please feel free to post replies, or email me . My another email is ROCKHOLD@CLINTON-FAMNET.COM .I will reply to all who answers my message. My appreciation go out to all who get some insight on my questions.

: 1) When you are purchasing what did you look for??

: 2) Do you use a vinyl coated cage, if so why??

: 3) What size do I need to provide room for more then one pair ??

: 4) What do you use for a nesting box??

: 5) What kind of bedding do you use??

: 6) What is the best diet for them??

: Thank you ,
: Shunte
