I have used a hamster lead/harness on my gliders... (Hagen is the manufacturer)
It is similar to the ones I have seen online... slips over their head, crosses behind their shoulderblades and buckles across their belly.. with a 'slip' where they cross. You can adjust it to any size you feel appropriate.

They retail for $3.99 in my local pet store.
