You are bonding to your sugar glider. If he sleeps in your pocket all day, then you are halfway there. Some gliders tend to be jumpy when they are awake, but they calm down with time. I don't think you should return him, just be patient and work with him, he is bonding to you. Please don't give up on him, that would be mean. Try offering pieces of fruit or crickets when he starts to wake up and when he's eating pet him gently on the head. After he gets used to you gently stick your finger in your pocket and pet and talk softly to him. If he does try to get out of the pouch try to gently coax him back, if he doesn't want to go back let him climb on you. If he wants to jump off of you let him, but make sure you have glider-proofed the room first. I think you should feed your glider something besides Nutriglider, it is only meant to be a supplement. I know the people at Herpeton probably told you that it was okay, but they can't just eat soft food. I have been to Herpeton and have seen their sugar glider set up. They keep them in too small cages and only feed them Nutriglider. It really isn't their fault though, that is what the breeder they got them from told them to do. I got my female sugar glider from this breeder and I don't agree with some of the stuff he does, but I am happy with the sugar glider. For some information on feeding and bonding with your sugar glider please look at my page.

: Herpeton pet store in Austin, Tx guarantees that your glider will bond
: to you in 31 days. i am just at 31 days and he isn't bonded to
: me yet. shouldn't i stick with him? he was trapped beneath
: the sink for 5 hours the other day and we had to pull the
: cabinets apart to get him out. he was very scared. that may
: have set us back a bit. he loves to sleep in my pocket.
: i take him to school and work every day so he is in the pocket
: for up to 15 hours. then he wakes up around 11 at night and
: eats nutriglider. so far he won't eat anything else except
: a raisin on occasion in the pocket. he plays with solid food,
: but doesn't eat it. however, out of the pocket, he runs away
: and doesn't stay on me at all, but hides and crabs when i try
: to put him back in the pocket. What do you think?
