This is not directed towards any recent posts. Several recent posts have caused me to say something though. If that makes any sense. Constipation is a serious matter. If your glider is constipated DO NOT wait for the situation to fix itself. If your glider is constipated for more than 24 hrs. you need to call your vet. Waiting 3 or more days just makes everything worse. How would you feel if you were constipated and you couldn't buy yourself any medicine and your parent refused to get you medicine? Pretty uncomfortable would be my guess. Mineral oil works great as does a vegetable oil. A drop or two should be enough. Also apples and raisins and prunes work great too. If these do not work in the first 24 hrs YOU NEED TO GET TO A VET! This could indicate a blockage of some sorts. Your glider may need help the other way- an enima. Or he could need barium and x-rays to see if there is in fact a blockage. The bottom line is don't wait for it to fix itself. It will only get worse.

I agree. Do not use this board as a free medical service. We are not vets. If we were, we would have our own practices making alot of money. We cannot stress enough how delicate and small these wonderful creatures are. If you take one of Dog's creatures into your home, make sure you are prepared to care for it properly.

LOL LOL I am sorry but looking at it the first time I thought, well that's one way to look at it I guess. LOL As far as the first post. I have to agree. TOO many people post and wait for answer. We for one do not know our animal. We can not see your animal. We are not vets either. Many people can HELP but after a vet is seen. There has been MANY gliders in the past that have gone threw this. No one could post to help the person and before you know it there is a post saying something like this: Well, it's too late my glider just died. I am so sad.... In my opinion for one the post could be avoided. Two I feel sorry for the glider not the owner that sat around and watched. I know that may sound harsh and I am sorry, but would you sit and wait for a response if your child were bleeding to death in your hands? NO!! Therefore to sit and expect an answer from people, who are not vets, can't see what is going on, and have no clue if your one of the hundreds that over exaggerate or are paranoid. I as well as others will help anyone I am sure. However I am not putting your glider or any gliders life on my head. Please if anyone out there is that worried go to a vet. My mother has always said this. If you LISTEN to your gut most of the time you will find its right. You much follow your feelings and if it says WARNING....ALLERT! Do something.
