Mary has told me that all the Real Stories were deleted by some "troublesome" people from Sugarglider.net. I had asked Skylar to read that post, however, I have decided to retell it here for those who have asked this question. I will do my best to give you the short version (but not too short) Charlie was my first sugarglider, and we bonded instantly. He went EVERYWHERE with me - without a cage - either in my pocket or in a little white basket he used to sleep in on my desk at school. The children were fascinated that he never ran away, crabbed at them or even acted like the noise bothered him. At home, he only used his cage to poop/pee in (guess you could say he was cage broken). At night he would play in the bedroom and when I woke in the morning he would always be curled in my neck fast asleep. His favorite treat was to lick some of my ice cream cone and then take just one bite of the cone. One morning I awoke and Charlie was not curled in my neck as he usually was. I called him but there was no response. When I got out of bed to look for him, to my horror I discovered that I must have rolled over on him during the night. It was apparent that he had made no struggle. His trust in me was so complete that he probably never realized that he was in danger. Pets that bond like this will give their human their complete trust. I cannot tell you the guilt I have suffered over this horrible accident. I beg all of you to make sure your little ones are never left unsupervised - no matter what the reason. I have other gliders now, but Charlie will never be replaced. He was my first and my most loved one. Just remember we are approximately 600 times larger than they are, so it doesn't take much for an accident like this to happen.

OMG! That is soooo sad. That made me cry and most real stories don't affect me that bad. Thank you for posting that. I have been seeing many posts about people sleeping with their gliders lately. One time I took a nap and Noelani was sleeping in my open palm and my hand started closing as I drifted off. I know I wouldn't have crushed her but it made me realize how little control we have when we are asleep.

I thank you so much for putting your story back out for all to see, I am working on the RealStories page and hopefully will have it back up soon. (Jane will kill me for this) (and Eric will laugh)but, I am going to do something I hate to do, and that is put the main pages back up, only half of them are reloaded, so as of now all up to the H's are done. As they get done I will use this thread to let you know. But i did want to take this opportunity to tell you, I know how painful it was to go through this again, after I just made you go through it. But I hope that your story does what you hope it does and that is, save another glider from such a tragic death. I have to write so many times how sorry I am, about gliders death, and trust me it doesn't get any easier for me. So I know it isn't any easier for you. Take this my dear \o/ a hug for you and I wished my arms were long enogh to reach you where you are.. But know my prayers are always with you...
