Today my pregnant female was eating a small piece of walnut (I know they are fattening-only an occasional treat)and began choking on it. She was in the cage and flipped out and jumped out of the cage onto me, while gagging with her tongue all the way out. It was scary, but I lightly squeezed her while holding her upside down. I couldnt squeeze too low because she has a baby in her pouch. We got it out somehow and now she is sleeping peacefully . I remember reading a post that this happended to someone else about a month ago but couldnt find the post or remember who wrote it. Whoever you are, thank you for posting because it made me aware that these things can happen and I sort of knew how to handle it. There was no time to panic.

Good job! It is obvious she looks to you as her glider-mommy... If she hadn't jumped to you you couldn't have helped her so fast. smile

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I've seen my little girl, Zelda, choke on food a few times, too, and did not know how to handle it (she eats upside down a lot). One time I thought she was going to die (frothing at the mouth). It's been years since that happened. I didn't know it was so common. Now I know what to do if it happens to her (or any of my other gliders) again. Thanks! smile
