After reading from the IGSA that daisies are safe, I just gave my gliders some daisy heads and was tickled by their reactions. They all POUNCE at the flowers, run around with them in their mouths and shred them up and eat them. It's so CUTE!!! Has anyone ever considered making flowers a permanent part of their gliders' diets? It seems like it could be a neat addition to a glider's diet since they eat flowers in the wild... Anyone's thoughts?

My biggest oncern would be whether or not the flowers have been sprayed with anything...that could prove lethal to your glider. I never spray anything in my yard, so I don't hesitate to use fruit tree branches or grape vines in my cages. And yes, when I have a glider outdoors, it will nibble on geraniums....I am careful about what they are allowed to nibble on.

if you think daisy's are great try hibiscus and rose! Like Barb said be very care ful of any sprays or insecticides, I grow my own and I still rinse them really good before giving them to my guys!

Like Kimi, I grow my own pesticide-free roses and hibiscus, and my pair absolutely go nuts for them all through the summer. I don't give them anything from nurseries or flower shops, as these are usually sprayed and/or chemically enhanced. It is funny to watch them tear into the roses to get at the pollen in the center!
