I hope someone can help me. I am looking for answers or solutions. I have 2 pairs of sugar gliders. Both have been excellent parents in the past, but for some reason in the past month or so each pair has produced a single joey and as soon as it was out-of-pouch they have killed it. I thought the first incident was just a freak occurance, but when my second pair did the same to their joey I really became upset. Each pair are housed separately and although their cages are side by side, they are not able to see each other. If anyone has any insight or suggestions for me I would appreciate it!

First of all: Glider´s aren´t good or bad. They are just animals and if they kill their joeys it is probably for some good reason. Maybe they don´t get enough protein through their diet, could be one reason (and an explanation for both pairs doing the same thing). What do you feed them? Is there enough calcium, protein in their diet? Has something stressful occured in the past month, did you change something that might have upset them? There will probably be a way to find out what has caused the killing. I hope this helped a little bit.

Three things you need to look at: stress, diet, and disease. These are all factors that can cause a glider to kill its young. If you haven't had your crew vet-checked, I'd recommend that you do.

I had gliders that successfully raised many young. This year (earlier) when I tried them on Brisky's diet they all got much more aggressive and I lost all joeys earlier in the year...Needless to say, I no longer feed Brisky's and the gliders lost some of the aggressiveness they had while on it.....In my case the only difference was diet---Brisky's that I tried to eliminate fruit flies...
