Hello again. ill make this short. Im feeding my glider the Bourbons Leadbeaters diet. yes i have been reading the other articals that go with that diet but its still very confusing to me. my question is, can i feed my glider the Bourbons Leadbeaters diet, along with fresh fruits and veggies, and not feed it bugs, and still have a very healthy glider. also the pet store i got my glider from, sold me a bag of vegitarian Dog food(a brand they bag themselves with no ingredients listed on the bag), not cat food, does this sound right???

occasional bugs are ok, i feed mine one mealworm a night, less is ok too. if you feed her leadbeaters with fruits and veggies in it, that should be enough, id cut out the dog food. id also worry why they dont post the ingredients on the bag. regardless, with the leadbeaters, you should not need the dog food.

Leadbeaters is meant to be fed with bugs. If you are not feeding bugs, your glider will be protien deficient. Don't use dog food, vegetarian or otherwise, gliders aren't dogs.

Insects are a very important part of a gliders diet and those who dont want to feed them to their pets should not have an insectavorous animal as their pet. I believe in feeding at least 5 insects a night per glider and I usually feed a lot more then that. I give my gliders each 5-15 large crickets and 1-3 large mealworms every night per glider. I dont like insects, they gross me out. But it is my obligation as a sugar glider owner to provide them with proper nutrition. Please take the dog food out of your diet and start feeding your glider insects along with the BML diet. Angie

I second that....Bugs are a must. If you don't like feeding live crickets you can do as I do....I buy them and bring them straight into the house and stick them in the freezer, box or bag and all. In about 3 to 4 hours I take them out and place them in a tupperware like container and I serve only frozen crickets. Mine love them. I do feed live mealies however and they do love those. I think they are gross, but maybe my gliders would thing fettecini alfredo was gross as well....lol I know that some people just won't touch the mealies so the use tweezers. I just hunker down, grab a worm and hand it off and beleive me, you will only have to hold it for a second if your glider loves them as much as mine...lol Taima usually won't even wait for me to get one, she just dives into the bowl and helps herself.
