i just rescued a little guy from a petstore with a broken tail. he's getting the last inch and a half or so taken off on thurs. it's all dead and dried up, but thankfully he's not chewing on it anymore. he was before i got him last tues. he's a young guy and with some work he will get friendly. i have 8 now, and i'm thinking of having to start placing some of these poor babies i keep taking in. i want to neuter him before he ever goes to a new home. should i have it all done at once? the neuter and that amputation? or is it too much at once? he'll already be out for his tail, and wake up with the e collar. do i make him go through the process twice or just all at once? i'm gonna ask my vet, but she's learning about gliders as i bring mine to her. so i would like u're opinions. thx much guys JAx and her crew

I can't say that I'm an expert and never had any of my gliders operated on to really know but it does sound like a good idea to have it done all at once. Just make sure the vet gives something for the pain. As for placing the others, how long have you had each one and if they have become bonded to you it is actually cruel to place them with somebody else. It's nice that you have a heart and have so many but are they ones you rescued or what and if you couldn't take care of so many, why did you get them? Not trying to be mean about it. It just has me concerned that you've obtained a bunch of gliders only to now feel you have to get rid of them, even if it's only a couple of them.

don't feel bad ever tessa about being concered about the wellbeing of these little poeple. i do have four that are bonded to me and could never go anywhere else. they are MINE. i took in two form tuscon about two weeks ago that needed a new home. they are not bonded to me and i am thinking of keeping the little boy for bee-bop. she one of MINE. his sister came with him, and is not bonded to me though she is friendly. i have this little guy i've been calling stumpy that has the tail thing. he hates me right now cause i have to give him meds twice a day. and i have a 3 week oop girl joey that i would love to keep, but, well, we'll see. i would like to keep taking little guys that need help. but i know i need to be able to give them the time they need. i dont Need to find homes for any of them. i was just thinking that now that i've helped them, someone can love them like i do. hope that cleared up u're concerns tessa.

i took my sweety Rocky in today so we could practice with getting an e-collar to stay on. he is such a goog glider very patient with us.. lol i did ask about neutering stumpy while we had him under. she said taking off the end of the tail should take no time at all and we should go ahead and neuter him at the same time. no point in knocking him out again in a few weeks and risk the complications that can happen anytime u put an animal under anatheisa(sp). so i'l llet ya'll know how he comes out og it on thurs.
