One of my gliders is making a noise I've never heard before. It sounds like hissing, or like a Slinky going down stairs. Then, when I go to the cage to check out who's doing that & why, they both just quietly look up at me with the cutest faces. It's almost like we have a nonverbal discussion.

Me: "What was that noise? Are you two ok?"
Simcha: "What noise? I didn't hear anything. Gideon, did you hear anything?"
Grumpy Gideon: "I didn't hear anything. Maybe it was that cat. It's daytime, maybe you should be asleep and you wouldn't be hearing noises."
Me: [still wondering] "Well... maybe you're right. I guess I need to go back to bed until a more reasonable hour."

The hissing noise is a greeting, usually a happy one. I've heard mine make it just being together snuggling since they're a breeding pair. Nero (male) is usually making it to get some affection from Nuba (female). So, no...you're not hearing things and they looked up at you with their cute expressions because they're happy...not fighting and probably just had some happy greetings to each other.

Thank you. I hadn't heard anyone mention it. They just started making this noise last week (I've only had them since Sept.), so I really wasn't sure. I get so excited to hear their noises because when they first came to me the only noise I heard was crabbing. I take it as a sign that they're feeling safer and more settled in my home. Even the 3am barking sessions rather warm my heart (Yes, I know I'm a little crazy smile ).
