I feel very guilty. To make a long story short, I've been feeding my gliders a calcium supplement that was, it seemed, fine by everyone's standards. I even posted here what the ingredients were and nobody took exception, even though the calcium was provided with limestone flour. I finally found a PetSmart, and looked at the RepCal. The calcium in that is oyster shell! Well, that seems to be a pretty big difference!! Does anybody know if gliders can digest LIMESTONE FLOUR and absorb calcium from it? Not that it matters much anyway, what's done is done and tomorrow they will get a brand new batch of UNMODIFIED BML even though I just made some with the other stuff. So, for anyone who's listening, when Bourbon says NO SUBSTITUTIONS, she means it...

New batch of BML made. They like it as a licky treat anyway - just tried it. Still feel guilty... could use a little reassurance, guys...

Will they eat the BML as part of their meal because that's what they need. As for limestone flour, I have no idea. You could call Bourbon if you want. She knows some people that have been helping her out with research on their nutrition. Her phone number is 931-552-4225. Good luck with the right BML! Take care.

There are a few other diets besides BML, don't totally disregard them. If you chose BML (a proven, great diet), and I'm 99.9% sure you will, you should contact Bourbon at the number above about it. But please you what it asks.

I appreciate that, thanks a lot. I have been following Bourbon's diet - it was the first one I found. I was just freaking out because I bought the wrong calcium even though it had no phosphorus in it... I found Bourbon in the chat room today and her reply was: "LOL!" I guess I needn't worry too much. THANK YOU BOURBON and all for giving me the reassurance I needed as well as a lot of other cool advice. Happy gliding everybody!

Debbie, Yeah. It think it would be alright, especially since it does not contain phosphorous! Limestone usually consists of calcium carbonate, the same thing you find in Tums (the antacid). Breaks down easily and calcium is absorbed. However, your supplement is not the same thing as tums. So don't worry! Good luck!
