fruit: apples, pears, grapes,(seedless), melons, strawberries, berries. veggetables, corn amd brocoli(sprinkle with rep cal) potaotes,(cooked) tomatoes, yams, carrots, mixed veggies.,lima beans,(not to much) protiens: low fat yogurt (occassionally) baked chicken, boiled eggs or scrambled fat free (crumble in the egg shell for calcium) mealies and crickets ( i don't but i hear they love them). these are items i always have on hand so i know these are good. sprinkle rep-cal on every other day or so, i use glideraide and egg shells so i don't give rep cal every day. only when i give high phosphorous stuff. some people give peanuts once a week but they are high in fat. i avoid raisins too cos they seem to give mine the runs. i sprinkle sugar free shredded wheat on the food some times for fiber,(and wheat germ). my guys don't eat the leadbeaters but that is good for them if yours eats it.

They can eat most fruits and veggies but look up the stuff on iguanaden.com and if it is the one I'm thinking of, it'll list the phosphorus in fruits and veggies. You need to keep the phosphorus content down because it interferes with the calcium absorption for the gliders. Like some are corn and broccoli which are high in phosphorus. They can still have it but don't give it to them as much. But get yourself this list of the phosphorus content on the fruits and veggies. raspberry

You need Caroline MacPherson's book SUGAR GLIDERS (publisher Barrons)...It tells you everything you need to know, and it has the lists in it. The book is only $6.95, so go get it, girl!

Make sure you try to give them the mealies and crickets, though. They are insectivorious and they need the protein.

I use any fruit or nut tree branches, grapevine BUT YOU MUST BE ABSOLUTELY SURE IT HAS NOT BEEN SPRAYED WITH ANY TYPE OF CHEMICAL. I do not spray and have friends who do not, so I am never lacking for branches. It is important that they not be sprayed because the gliders will chew on the bark, so if it has been sprayed you risk poisoning your gliders. You can also use manzanita branches you get at the petstore.
