Well, I personally think it is a REALLY good idea to get more than one. If you don't a glider can die of lonliness, and even if you spend lots of time with a single glider (you need to spend more time with 1 glider than with 2) it isn't the same as having somebody of your own species. I think that if you get one, get it bonded to you, buy another and bond with it, then introduce the two gliders then that's ok. You can have one at first, but make sure to make it a priority to get a second glider.

I have lots of gliders and love them all, but it is a lot of work. I know many people who have just one glider, spend tons of time with it and love it, and they do just fine. These gliders are so bonded to their owners that I think they would not necessarily like another glider more than their human. I have found this to be true of other animals, and I am not talking about imprinting which is specific to baby birds. Several of the people I know are fortunate enough to be able to take their gliders to work with them, and they do so every day. If I had the right glider, I could live with one....With the ones I have now, I love them too much to want to give them up....

i think having two is definitally the best way to go..that way you can still spend lots of time with them... and bond ect..but if you do have to leave them (like if you go on vacation ect) they have each other..and the chances of having to deal with a depression disaster are much less. i carry both my gliders with me (you just need a bigger pouch). the other thing is scince they are nocturnal..they are up all night..because most people cant stay up all night..they will have someone to play with so they dont get bored. evan is you spend the recomended 2 hrs per day with your glider...7 or 8 hrs alone while you sleep seems like it would be a long time to me.

definately get 2! if you have a lot of schoolwork or are tied up with a job and cant spend the usual 2 hours with them then they can have each other for that time. and from personal experience if you onley have one he/she will keep you up all night crabbing and barking. it is much better to have 2 sugar gliders so they can have your companionship as well as one of their own kinds.

Two is better than one. I have one and although I spend a lot of time with her it would be better for her to have a friend to play with after I go to bed. They would keep each other company. Mine barks everynight. I feel bad and soon I will get her a friend.

New babies (or adults) can take a lot of work when you first get them. I recommend--especially since you are a first-time owner--to start with just one. It will give you time to work with him and get him bonded to you. If you get two animals, you may have a harder time getting them both to bond to you at once. After a few months (when he's 100% bonded to you) you can get your sugar glider a friend. He will be out of that baby stage, and you will have more time to devote to bonding the second animal. Just my two cents, two females are really the best way to go, unless you can find a breeder who sells neutered males. Unneutered males can be very stinky when they hit puberty, and breeding them take alot of time and can be tough on the female glider.
