It has been so foggy and dreary here for the past couple of weeks that I now have a horrible case of the "winter blahs"!
I started thinking about this years Glider Getaway! I know this years is gonna be bigger and better, and a little birdie told me that if I REALLY wanted to see Bourbon get happy and excited... all I had to do was ask about the preparations. SOOOOOO......????????
Let's hear it! I want details.... NOW!
Anyone planning on going? Sound off! 
BTW... with this much notice almost any excuse will be considered LAME and will be taken extremely personally! hehehe

I'm hoping to go but can't guarrantee it so I just plan to go and hopefully will make it. But I live in Maryland so I wonder if it would be better to drive there or take a plane. Bourbon has it so we can take our gliders with us if we want and the rates for the rooms are supposed to be pretty good so I am excited about it. It'll be my first time to ever go and I look foward to it.

Our gliders wont be going as we will fly. But I will bring pictures back for them.

The Glider Getaway is when all of us wacky glider people get together and swap ideas, learn new stuff about diet and bonding, and generally just have a WONDERFUL time! The first year it was in Ohio, last year was North Carolina, and this year is Clarkesville TN.! It gets better every year!
Some people bring their gliders, but some of us don't. I come from Utah. Others have come from Maryland, Texas, Ohio, Tennessee, and North Carolina. This year I have heard of even more coming. They usually ask for a little money for meals and glider food, but that might be different this year since it's not at someone's home. Last year the highlights were the AWESOME speakers, the AMAZING entertainment, and for me, well... my hubby and kids were still in Utah! LOL!
I don't have my calandar right here, but it is always the last weekend in July. If there is anything you can start doing now (save up money, get a travel buddy, arrange time off) DO IT!!!
You won't be sorry! If nothing else, you'll all get a chance to meet the princess! hehehe

yup Shell, and that we got on film, too bad we couldn't get her hubby's face at the same time.. LOL.. The dates are set for July 27th, 28th, and 29th.. most of the activities are on the 28th. Arrangements will be made and a page will be posted.. Yup Ms shell you know I am a procrastionator. But I do have another appt. set up with the Hotel, on Tuesday. to discuss how we are going to handle this. Rooms are a great price.. 1/3 of their normal rates for all rooms. whether it is 1 or 2 people, Gliders are welcome with an indoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room (separate room), entertainment, a banquet room, breakfast (not just muffins and coffee).. We will make arrangements as needed to pick up people from the airport and transport them to the hotel. But the best thing of all is the great company and the fun we have all had. To be able to put faces with names, we ALL learn each year.. me included.. I think they hold stuff back from me just for that day.. lol.

Ohhh! sounds awesome! how much does it usually run? I would love to go, but money can be an issue if it is too much. Do people usually bring along significant others? And is there plenty of entertainment for people under 21? Im only 19.

Yes, everyone is invited! I think we'll know more after Tuesday when Bourbon has her meeting with the hotel. I think last year was $20 per person, and that helped with food and stuff. This year will all depend on what we find out from B.
Yes, people do bring their signifigant others.
I leave mine at home so there is someone to take care of the kids and Baron and Belle.
As far as I know, the entertainment will be at the hotel. So I'm pretty sure that the age factor wouldn't matter cuz it won't be in a bar.
I could be wrong (but that would be extremely rare) on some of this info, so lets see what happens on Tues. In the meantime, it might be a good idea to leave your name and e-mail addy here so we can get an idea of how many we might have.

You'll probably want to take the drive. It's easier on the animal, plus many planes won't let you take him in the passenger area with you.

I would love love to go as i already said. if money permits, ill definately go. i didnt mean to say that you were dirty dancing or anything, but at 19, i cant legally get into someplaces. i just didnt want to go and then have the older individuals run off to places i cant go.

Emily: the event is to educate and have fun. Last year we didn't go anywhere...we stayed at the getaway the whole time...and there were people under 21 there. I know last year alchol was not even allowed...but I have no clue how it will be thisn year since its in a different location. I don't really think you have to worry about that.

The Dates again are July 27th Fri, July 28th Sat and July 29th Sun, The rooms are 30.00 per night single or double rooms, refrigerators and microwaves available for 3.00 per night per item. Indoor pool,whirlpool, exercise room. The schedules are in the making. Transportation will be arranged for those flying in from the airport to the hotel, and vice versa.
