hi, i was wondering if anyone ever take their sugargliders outdoors with them? i don't mean just in their pockets, but actually let them play around in the trees and stuff. i am bonded to my rikki, and he comes to me when i whistle, but i just don't know if i should chance it. he would really enjoy climbing high in the trees and gliding down, but i don't want to lose him. thanks.

I take my gliders out all the time and I do let them on plants that aren't so tall that I can't reach them. Trust me, a sugar glider might stay on the lower levels of a tree for awhile, but once it gets accustomed to being "free" it will want to go to the top of the tree. If that tree happens to be 50 feet tall, good luck in getting your glider back! In other words, you should use caution as to where you let it roam. (It is easy to forget the glider there too until it is too late. Does that sound like the voice of experience?? It is. Thankfully, my gliders are very bonded and I haven't lost any that way!)

THat sounnds like good fun......BUT, I would be wayyyyy too worried about cats, squirrls, dogs, birds, and unfortunatly those are things we can not control. personaly I like to have complete control of the safety of my gliders. and I woulden't and don't feel safe letting them roam outside. there are far to many dangers out there and I love my gliders far to much to take that chance! hope that leaves you with something to ponder, Eva

Do whatever you feel it is safe to do with your gliders: If in doubt, don't. I'm perfectly comfortable with mine because my gliders have gone outdoors with me for 5 years now and I have not lost a glider. If you take them out during the day, keeping them in the shade, you'll be pretty safe. They are more likely to take off and run when it is dark out and they feel safe. Even then, mine don't run because to them I represent security.
