My family's female glider has joey(s) that are due OOP very soon. In the first 1-2 days after the joey(s) are OOP, should we let the female out to play as usual or not? Please answer!

I found that with my Lucy, she made that decision herself and it wasn't until the joeys were a little older. Although she would leave them with dad to eat and play inside the cage, she generally did not seem comfortable being separated from them by the cage.
I did find that she was fairly good about letting me hold Woodie while she sort of explored. Once she realized he was okay, she seemed to return to her normal play patterns.
Of course, now that I have posted all this, your glider will be completely different winkI would just let her set her own time schedule.

Thanks for the great advice. It's the first time for us (obvoiusly)! smile She is a young mother (7 or so months now, only 5 or 6 moths when we first found out that she had joeys in the pouch), but so far she is doing well and cleaning the pouch and the itty-bitty tail that was sticking out yesterday winkso we are hopeful!

KarenE gave you some good advice. How I handle moms and joeys is determined by the individual gliders....Many of my moms don't like being handled but love to run around on me when they have joeys in the pouch. As they get closer to havint the joeys come OOP, they are more accepting of being held. Most do not mind being held once the joeys are OOP. If they seem timid, I do give them some space, especially if they are first-time moms. wink wink raspberry raspberry

Once again, thanks for the advice, it'll help when the little ones come! Also, I know that lately there have been a lot of "name" posts, but if anybody has come up with any new ones, please put them in a follow-up. Your help is greatly appreciated! raspberry
