Hello! I just got my first sugar glider baby, hes so cute and nice. Has this happend with anyone else, that after you got one, you wanted another just because how great they are? But when you get two are they still close to the owener or do they then bond with eachother instead the owner?

Yes sugar gliders are addicting , I have seven now , and the last 3 were ones that were in pet shops that I felt bad for. and to your other question , I have two breeding pares and If you spend enough time with them they will still bond and play with you. But when your sleeping they have an all-nite friend too. smile

I agree that gliders can be addicting but there are a couple of very important things to remember.
If you have more than one of the opposite sex housed together, eventually you will have joeys ... these little ones are almost impossible to let go of once you have handled and bonded with them almost from the first day oop. Your colony can grow very quickly if you are not careful.
EXPENSE: I think this is the most important factor to consider when you have a large number of gliders (more than 2, I think). As we all know, a sick or injured glider can be very expensive as far as vet care. You must make sure that you are financially able to handle these situations. Also, you should be able to (old enough) to transport these babies to and from the vet without having to rely on parents or friends.
We have seen multiple posts from people saying their mom/dad would not agree to take the glider to the vet and the consequences were tragic.
Just make sure you research all aspects of vet care/diet/housing, etc. before deciding to get another glider.
I had a lone glider for years and he was perfectly happy being an "only glider". Why wouldn't he be ... he had my total undivided attention wink

Sugar gliders are very addictive in every sense of the word, but do take not of KarenE's words of wisdom. She is right on the money. More animals does mean more work! (If you do decide on two, try 2 females or have the male neutered.)

Gliders are cute, adorable, and very personable. They are also very time consuming, ( and at the latest of hours I might add! ) and medical expenses can quickly add up, especially with the more gliders you decide to give a home to. They have their each and very own personalities, likes and dislikes, and require individual attention. Much like raising a child.....Glideritis can be as rewarding as it can be heartbreaking.....much like raising a child.
In short, as wonderful as they are, and as cute as they are, if you are not quite ready yet to devote as much time as you would to any child of your own, please proceed catiously before extending your family....
with all the best intentions... Kimi
