Things sorta got out of hand last night.
THere was a sort of disregard for room rules.
So eric closed it down.
Its up to him if it goes up again

The only thing it is doing is hurting the gliders and the new owners that need our help.

Eric did the right thing...The chat room is supposed to be about gliders, not flirtations and innuendos. If people would act their age and use some maturity, the people who wanted to ask glider questions could. The chat room was shut down not because of glider talk but lack there of.

well to each there own, gosh who is talking gliders now, and for the people who are working with gliders that were sold to young and come to the chat daily to work with 1 or 2 of the people there that they trust to help them, were does this leave them now? Eric had right to be upset last night but to take the chat down so that glider owners could not get help is wrong. We are always more then willing to help the gliders that is our purpose for being there,but we also all know each other and understand that no harm is done in joking around...but i do agree it should be taken down a notch, but not a reason to take the chat from people who need it.

I wasn't in the chatroom last night so I don't know firsthand everything that took place, but I do know that there are times when the conversation kind of lulls down on the gliders and I personally don't see the harm in talking about other things as long as a certain amount of discretion is used. I do know that whenever someone needs help regarding their glider they turn to the chat room people to help. Without the chat room I personally feel that gliders lives could be at stake because posting on the board is just not as efficient. The people who use the chatroom always go back to glider business whenever someone is asking a question or starts up a conversation on them. The chat room is a necessity, gliders lives and their owners depend on it. I hope to see the chatroom back up and running again very soon.

Whatever..............Since the chat room is Eric's, it is HIS to do with as he wishes whether or not we agree/disagree. I do not doubt that if things had not gotten out of had, he would not have felt the need to do what he did. (I personally do not know Eric, so I have no personal interest in this. However, I have been told about times past where some were cussing and swearing but not kicked because people were too busy flirting; and this would be reason for the owner of the chat room to get everything in order.)

I have seen almost all the above go on it the chatroom, although there are some finer points that have not been pointed out.
1. That regardless of the converstaions that people were still being helpped in the chat room. The converstaion may have continued, but the help was still being offered.
2. That there is far more probs with the children that come in there, and cause problems and people are too busy trying to deal with their antics, that info is sometimes lost.
3. That with that chatroom, regardless of the conversations, there has been many a gliders life saved.
4. I am not even going into the ego areas. Conversations have been far worse than they were last night, And people were still being helped last night when the chat was shut down.
5. The "language monitor is set", there has been banning of many who slip up, after all we are mainly adults. That is automatic. A monitor doesn't have to be there for that to happen and has happened far more frequently in the middle of the night when only adults are in the room.
6. There was a room setup for 18+, and the shutting down of the chat happened, when the adults moved into that room.
7. The law states there is to be no info from anyone 13 and under to be asked or given out, this puts us adults at a huge risk. There are 10, 11, and 12 year olds that come in and need help but we aren't allowed to ask any questions to help them out. (this has nothing to do with the board, more of a new federal law)This has made it very difficult for those of us that want to help, but can't, cause we are not allowed to.
8. Eric runs things, it is his board and he can do whatever he wants, although the reasoning sometimes is questioned, it is his board. So If he isn't going to have a chat, than take it down. This is not going to control the adults, no more than being able to control the children 13 and under from posting here on this board or in the chat room.
9. Eric put his foot down, told everyone to cool the inuendos, and they did, they moved it to another room. A room set up by Eric for the Adults to carry on those conversations, many of which he has also been a part of.
10. As much as some don't want to hear adults, sometimes the adults don't want to hear how the glider is not being taken to the vet, cause it cost too much, or because parents won't take them or pay for it. But we do, and we deal with this on a regular basis. Those that need help, get it.
ask those that have problems, real medical problems, if they cared what the conversation was? they don't, It is simple, their gliders are alive and well because of those same people. Those people are far too numberous to mention, and many times come back in to find out what to do next, many of those people are still hanging, as well as those that keeps us all updated on the progress.
I can't get a post removed for personal reasons, but the chat rooms can be shut down for them. Why not just punish the whole class, for the antics of a few, that the teacher has done as well.
And NO I didn't say anything last night that would have given me reason to be shut out of Chat. Many people were in there, and not all of them had crossed any lines. Not that it hadn't been done in the past. But last night.. well that is yet another Story

You guys, I think that Eric needs to get a grip, I was in there many of times and got blamed for something I never even did and could not even got a chance to explain. We are only human, and we do get out of hand at times, but this is internet and people should learn to forgive. Eric, you are not god, please learn to be more patient and understanding!

First off, people get a grip on this situation. Second, Kitara, you need to find yourself because Robin will help you. She is one of those people who will love you forever. She has been through the heartache and understands where you are coming from. You make me feel like dancing and dance night away (and that is what Robin said.....she thought that would make you FEEL BETTER). But about the chatroom, so what?
It is suppose to be about the gliders, right?
Well, why the flirting? We love you the way you are! Gliders, Drive on!!!!
