Mealworm and Cricket Cookies 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar (note: you can substitute both sugars w/apple sauce) 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup oats 1/4 cup raisons 1/4 cup crickets 1/4 cup mealworm flour Cream butter well, then mix in sugar or substitute sugar w/apple sauce, egg, vanilla flour, salt, baking soda, raisons, crickets, oats, and mealworm flour. Drop batter by the teaspoonful on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. To make insect flour: Spread your cleaned insects out on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Set your oven 200 degrees and dry insects for approximately 1-3 hours. When the insects are done, they should be fairly brittle and crush easily. Take your dried insects and put them into a blender or coffee grinder, and grind them till they are about consistency of wheat germ. Use in practically any recipe! That sounds interesting but wouldn't the salt in the recipe be bad for the gliders? Or is this a cookie that people eat? Not that I would personally want to try a cookie with insects in it. Ewe! Oh well, just trying to figure this out.

<Giggles>.... the original recipe was meant for humans ... thus the sugar and the salt.. but you could easily take out the salt... and being such a small amount to begin with.. I do not think it would matter to leave it in... Michelle, aka "The Sugar Glider Nutter" The Sugar Pouch the_sugar_pouch@hotmail.com proud mommie to Mee'sa & Tico, Luna & Kinks, Sassie & Fraz
