First I must say that this is such a great and valuable site!

I have had Kiki now for about four weeks and can't get her to try anything. So far, the only thing she will eat is fresh apples and mango. She has started eating baby cereal (boxed oatmeal), but only if I add a good heap of honey. She won't even drink GliderAde!

We've been through grapes, cantaloupe, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, oranges, pears, papaya, plums, boiled chicken, baby food in jars (fruits and veggies), and hard boiled eggs all with no success.

Last night she did finally eat a raw sweet potato piece (which I just read was bad?) and some sweet corn right from the cob. I also discovered she absolutely loves dried fruit like pineapple, mango, and papya, but am concerned about the extra sugar. I haven't had the heart to try crickets or mealworms. I'm worried about her lack of calcium and protein.

ANY help that you guys can give would be incredibly appreciated!

Could you please tell us the diet she was on when you got her? You may need to gradually switch her over to a better diet. Also how old is she?

Have you tried any of the leadbeaters mix?

Please tell us her old diet and her age..I think we can help you switch her over with that information. I do hope that soemday soon you will try insects. It is an importiant part of their diet....and you do need to feed them.

If you want to get more protien in your glider try dried cat food they shoul like it. Also where ever you got yours from they might not of gave it a variety of foods so that could be your problem. You see I work in a pet shop that has exotic creatures in it. So we sell sugar gliders and I just go by what my boss tells me. And as I see it works for him.

Catfood is not considered a good glider food by most vets. Gliders who are feed catfood daily often have more constipation problems. There is supposed to be a study showing that catfood can cause intestinal blockage in gliders.
Some vets also say it causes retnal faliure.

There are many many ways to get protein in a diet which are healthier and more natural than catfood.

Catfood requires a lot of water to break it down and digest it. Gliders do not drink a lot of water. When the glider eats catfood and doesn't drink enough water then it is not going to be properly digested..which can cause the glider to have problems digesting other food.

Don't use catfood for protien...you can use insects, eggs, yogurt, and tofu.
