My boyfriend seems to think I over feed my two babies. I keep 2 food bowls in the cage just to make sure they both get what they want. I do put a lot of food in the bowls. However, its not fatty foods, but leadbeaters, baby food, yogurt, fruits and veggies. There is always alot of food leftover. I assumed this was better than an empty bowl. Most of the time I can barely tell what they've eaten because there is so much. So, am I feeding too much which in turn will cause my two loves to be overweight???

Welllll, if you're feed leadbeaters then drop the baby food and yogurt. Keep the fruits and veggies.
If the baby food is dessert then use only as licky treat - same with yogurt, except give it only once in a great while. smile
My theory on the amount of food is if the bowl is empty in the morning then add a LITTLE more the next night. If there is quite a bit of food leftover in the morning, then, yes there is a possibility they will overeat, thus causing an overweight problem. As with humans, it is easier to put on than to take off. frown
If there is not food left in the morning and they still seem hungry, then offer them a cricket. Mine seem to especially like one just before their bedtime ;)

Try putting a little less each night until there is just a little left over. If you put too much then you will never know how much they are eating of each thing. If persay your gliders only ate fruit every night then they can deffinitly develop heath problems. You do wnat their too be left over food so you know they all got enough...but at the same time you wnat to be able to see just how much of each thing they ate. I agree with Karen the leadbeaters is to feed with fruit and veggies..they do not need yogurt every night or baby food. Yogurt has been known to cause problems in gliders that are feed this every night. Togurt should be feed no more than 2 or 3 nights a week. If you can get them to eat real fruits and veggies then the baby food is a treat that should be feed a few times a week also. Maybe try alternating them out with something else. When do you feed them insects?
