I have a sugar glider named Aries and she's almost two years old. She's had osteoporosis for almost a year now. I clean her cage daily but it still smells. She uses her bed as a bathroom as well as her female roommate, Zoey. I don't know if its her diet or if she's to sick to clean herself. Please Help! Reposted for better response and to stay on topic

did the vet diagnose her with this? if so what did he change to correct it? If I am not mistaken here, and I could be, but isn't that like weaking of the muscles and joints? Which could very well be caused by diet, with her not coming ut of her pouch to go to the bathroom, really concerns me, does she come out at all? Was she a hand pulled joey? Or rejected joey? In gliders of that age it is unlikely to be osteoporisis. i would think anyway , I was under the impression that is more a geratric problem, more with older gliders. White muscle disease, and metabolic bone disease are more likely .. again i am only speculating here as Iam not familiar with osteoporsis at all.

What makes you think she has that? And what diet do you feed? What has the vet done? We deffinitly need to know more. Bourbon: where can I learn more about white muscle disease?

okay so by those links, it would probably be safe to assume, if it osteoporsis, that it is dietary related since she is so very young. Jessica, could you tell us what diet she is on? Again back to my original q's, did the vet diagnose this? if so what did he suggest? I know at this time If she was diagnosed I would highly suggest my leadbeaters. http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugarglider/leadbeat.html

Its definately diet related. The only way to progress/advance osteoporosis is lack of proper nutrition. The lack of *OR* excess amounts of calcium will contribute to the disease.
