Ok my first night of feeding my gliders i gave them 2 tsp of Leadbeaters, on baby carrot, 2 chunks of bannana, a small piece of broccoli, and 2 grapes. The male jumped on the grapes and gobbled them both up right away. They would both try the broccoli, but that was about it...TRY. They would not EVEN try the carrot nor the bannana. So i gave them a few extra grapes since they seemed to love them. They ate those. Then i began to think that they were eating fruit and not their veggies, so i took some corn from a cob and put it in their dish (i know this is a treat and not a part of their meal) and then cut up some cucumber and also gave that to them, they LOVED the corn as we all know, and they really liked the cucumber. Any how i am curious if this is ok for them, did i do it right ? Did they get every thing they needed last night?

For the first night, you guys did great. In my opinion, I think its okay to spoil them with whatever they'll eat during the first several days, then work on getting it balanced. raspberry

OMG! I misread the title. I thought it said "My glider DIED the first night"! PHEW!! Sounds like you are doing great. Keep trying different things each night to get a feel for what they like. Try sweet fruits and vegetables. Mine love sugar snap peas, peas, corn, steamed broccoli, papaya, mango, apples, pears, and grapes(red and green).

I have tryed several things now, and i have also decided to follow THE SUGAR POUCH advice. She suggested that i feed them veggies one night and then fruit the next, because every night they would eat their fruit, and not any of their veggies. This works out well. The first night i feed them 2 differant kinds of veggies, some times a few sunflower seeds or nut of some kind, leadbeaters, and 2 cricketts each. Then the second night i will give them 2 differant kinds of fruit, some times a few sunflowers or nuts, yougart mixed with glider nectar and 2 crickets each. They seem to be doing very well with this diet! And boy oh boy do they love their crickets. They fight over them so we have now decided to seperate them while they are fed their crickets, because the momma has 2 babys in her pouch, and she needs the protien, and not the male to be stealing her food from her. He hisses, bites and attacks her for her crickets. Although he loves her dearly, he is dominant and some times selfish.

Leadbeaters should be fed every night as it is balanced for their needs...what are you feeding on the other nights?

Ok i will give you an example of their diet, tonight is vegetable night, so they will have some spinage, some boiled carrots, and some zuchini, along with a few sunflower seeds, 2 crickets each and some glider nectar mixed in with yogart. Tomorrow is fruit night, so they will have an assortment of fruit, 2 crickets each, and 2 tsp's of leadbeaters. Then the night after is vegetable night, same as the first vegetable night. I switch on and off with the veggies and fruits because at first i would give them some each night and they would only eat the fruit, so with the recomandation from a breeder i know, i decided to do it this way, and it works out quite well for them. They are now eating their veggies as well as their fruits.

I answered you on your other post but I will repost it here. Nectar and yogurt are treats. The leadbeaters is a balnaced diet meant to be fed every night. Try feeding it every night, and the yogurt and nectar as a treat maybe once a week...that night you could less the portions of everything.

the Nectar Lori is a fibrous combination of plants and nutrients
that do give them a major part of the nutritional needs.

You need to feed the leadbeaters everynite. The figures are based on feeding it everynite and you will be missing needed protien as well as calcuim by not giving it each nite. I too do the veggie one nite fruit one nite thing. But Leadbeaters is given each nite, unless I am out and forgot to fix a new batch, then very occasionally I will give yogurt or babyfood. ;)

The lori has good stuff in it..but they don't NEED it. It is good for them and they love it, but they don't NEED it. It is a treat to be given 2 or 3 times a week. However the leadbeaters does have what they NEED in it and should be fed every night.
