I'm not sure how to clip the nails, we have tried but we don't want to hurt him. Is there some kind of tree limb that I can put in the cage to help keep his nails down?

Im not sure about the tree limb but wear gloves and use human nail clippers but only clip the very tip or he will bleed.

Why would you wear gloves while clipping the nails? Thats not a very bright idea. You can use polly perches in the cage and this helps to keep the nails filed. In some cases you will still have to clip their nails. Do this while they are in the pouch. Jist pull out one leg at a time. Just clip of the tip of the nail wheere it catches on the clippers.

What works really great for us is to get them during the day or very early evening while they are still sleepy, give them a treat to keep them occupied, then do what Mary said and pull one leg out at a time. I use baby nail clippers because the cutting edge is narrower/smaller and easier to control than the larger adult size ones. We do this about every two weeks. Good luck!

thank you for answering my message, now about clipping in the pouch and giving a treat, that's a good idea but what happens when it's time to do the front paws, he'll be using them to eat his treat? i tell ya it's alot harder than it sounds, but we're new at this we've only had our little baby about a month and a half or so. THANKS!

I only said to use the gloves because u just got the glider and he might not fully trust u yet and so he might bite you farely hard

Gloves can only caise the glider more fear. They need to smell you and the gloves will mask that. It will make the glider very ipset and much harder to do the nails. A polly perch is a specific type of bird perch designed to help file nails in the cage. You can find them in the bird section of most any petstore. I think they are about 7 dollars..they come in various sizes so it depends. I only clip nails if the glider is getting stuck on something and could injure themselves. Very rarely do i have to clip the front nails..its normally the back nails that need trimming.
