John
Have never heard of rabies in a smile in the US.
I would say that the probablity is extremely slim!
I understand that there has never been any problems with rabies in australia - as it does not exsist there.

Here is a marsupial disease link

John,
No, there has never been a documented case of gliders having rabies. I wouldn't say that they could not get it, but I would make sure that if you have other pets that go outside, either for short term or long term, to get them vaccinated! As you well may know, it is either transmitted through a bite, via the saliva, or it can transmitted through the air, via aerosolized droplets from rabid bats in cave settings. However, the latter is so minimal that health officials never mention it. Your gliders will be OK! ;)
