We use Pen rings, they are very inexpensive but sometimes are hard to find. They look like tiny versions of the rings you think of on cows. As for the noise, yes, yes, yes. I have found on the top it is sooo much quieter. Another thing you could try is a wire tie (cable ties). Just loop it through the bars of your cage around the bar to the wodent wheel. We did it towards the bends and towards the end. Hope this helps, Sassy

You can easily hang it from the top with cable ties..and they are cheap and easy to find. It does cut down on the noise a lot.

should you have a shelf below there whodent wheel or are they safe with out a shelf, I have been wanting to hang the glider wheel from the top of the cage but read that someone had a shelf below it and it made me think that they may fall out and get hurt....

The older version of the wheel woild soemtimes comes loose making it very importiant to have a shelf..the newer version has fixed that problems and as far as I know doesn't come loose anymore....so the shelf is a good saftey measure...but not neccesaty depending on your wheel.

I have a shelf below my wheel in al my cages. I like it for saftey as well as making it easier for the glider to get in and out of the wheel. All of my wheels are the new version with the cotter pin.
