I have been using the old style wheel since we've had our gliders, and have recently gotten Wodent Wheels -- but before I replace the old wheel with the new one, I thought you all would find the following story kinda amusing My youngest pair of gliders used to love to run their wheel, and when they finally had their last litter, encoraged them at a young age to explore the cage. One evening I put one of the twins (oop about 3 weeks) just inside the door hoping momma would gather her up and take her back to the pouch -- But momma was too busy eating on the upper level. The baby, sensing where momma was, tried to make her way there, but decided to take a break after making it on to the wheel. Momma then decided to scoot down to the lower level to check on her joey and she too climbed onto the wheel -- can you guess where this is going ??? Instead of waiting for the baby to climb on her back, momma just starts running on the wheel. What I saw was both funny and terrifying at the same time. The baby was clinging to the wheel bars -- going round and round. I'm glad I waited to see if momma would retrieve her baby -- We PROMPTLY stopped the wheel and removed the baby for observation -- I am happy to say she was no worse for wear. As a matter of fact her she must have liked it, because now she and her brother like to get each of their wheels spinning really fast, then suddenly stop running and hold on to the bars so that it takes them for a ride -- round and round Sometimes in tandem -- I laugh my self silly every time I catch them doing this Jeez I wish I had a video cam -- We'll be replacing one of the old wheels with a new wheel later this evening, I can't wait to see what "tricks" the little cuties develop for their new toy
