what fruits and veggies are considered fatty? I read under the post for 'baby with white eyes' that avacado is fatty? what others, my gliders usually get grapes, strawberries, pears, apples, rasberries every night, peanuts and mealworms now and then, and leadbeaters every night...this is not a fatty diet is it?

Fatty fruits are avacado, bananas. Veggies are corn. they have little use nutrutionaly. the rest sounds good. I try and vary all of them. THey seem to like the variety.

peanuts are also fatty, you should limit those to a treat only maybe 1 or so a week,... the mealies are known to be higher in fats than crickets per sae but insects should constitute about half of their daily diet..example if you only have one, you should use about 2 tablespoons of insects... for us we use the large... NOT the super.. and we give ours in the morning.. we offer about 4 or 5 to each glider..daily..

Peanuts are so fatty that when I started to give one half daily to my gliders I saw a weight gain within the week. Needless to say I stopped that immediately. Poor guys only get them about once a month if that now, but boy am I popular when they do!!!!!!!1

should how do you feed them crickets? do you give them the freeze dried or live? If you give them live don't you have to worry about them getting out? Thats why I have been giving them mealies instead of crickets, I thought the crickets would just get out of the cage and my cats would end up eating them instead.. I hand feed them the mealies, I guess I could do that with the crickets.

I give mine crickets one at a time. Just hand it through the cage and let them grab it. It's extremely rare for one to get away from them. They seem to prefer to eat the back legs first sorta like a drumstick. Like Bourbon, I also feed mine the crickets in the morning rather than at night. Sorta like a bedtime snack ;)
