Is there any way to tell how old your glider is? I have an older male about 3 years old, and recently I aquired another male and I wasn't sure how to tell how old it was. My older male has a pom-pom and the 'new' glider doesn't. Is there a certain age when the pom-pom appears? The person I recieved the glider from wasn't sure they thought he was 1 1/2 years old. Thanks, Rebekka

Pom Pom = Male -- They have that the moment they're born (it just looks like a shriveled up teeny tiny pea). By the time they're old enough for adoption, it's a little pom pom that blends in with their bellies, but if you look carfully, you'll see it. When they get little older sometimes it will hang NO pom pom = Female or Castrated male

Sorry 'bout that - Saturday I picked up a three month old (Buster)-- his pom pom is the same size my 10mo old glider's -- I have observed my males from birth to adulthood, and I find that the pom pom begins to "hang down" around 6-7mo of age (around the same time the bald spot begins to show). Before that age, they seem to keep it close to their bellies

There is no way to tell the age of a glider form just looking at them...so the answer is we can't tell you.

Rebekka, Sounds like you might have a neutered male if there is a bald spot. Some vets will take the pom-pom off at the time of neutering. It isn't necessary, but some do for whatever reason.
