I have been hearing a lot about how sugar gliders love the water, especially ponds. Does anyone know anything about sugar gliders' affinity for the water?

From what I have learned sugargliders' curiousity will draw them to water, but they cannot swim and can drown

They can swim but not for long till they become exhausted. many gliders have died due to toilets being left open, and home aquariums, . I would not recomend it.

I would be very cautious to taking them to a pond Mike. Alot of ponds are contaminated with algae as well as parasites, such as amoeba. They may also contain bacteria such as Leptospira, Enterococci, etc. and viruses. Plus you run into chemical contaminates like pesticides, herbicides, etc. All of these examples can come from run-off during a rain event. Do not let them into a pond! It could mean a death sentence for them or huge vet bills for you. NOTE: I am not saying all ponds are like this. Assume they are. Better to be safe then sorry!
