Last night as I was sitting in front of the fireplace with a wonderful fire going reading a book, my "family" woke up, and it was obvious they were ready for their quality time with mom. My first instinct was to let them out in the den where they usually play, and since hubby was gone we would have the place all to ourselves. Just as I was about to open the cage door, the fire crackled ... ohmygosh, what was I thinking? These little guys are faster than a streak of lightning ... they don't know about fires in fireplaces. Sooo, keep your gliders out of any rooms where you may have a fire going. I would hate to see the horrible story posted about a glider accidentally jumping/gliding/or running into the fireplace.

I never even thought of that! I am so glad you mentioned that. I don't have a fireplace so I don't have to worry about it luckily.

Thats very good advice...also if people have space heaters you should not have them on when the gliders are out and playing!! One time and thats all it takes!

I have a spce heater...but I only use it when the glider cage is shut. Durring playtime its out of the room. Its really bad for me because there is soemthing wrong with our heat pimp...so the heater stops working when it gets realy cold...thats why we bought a little heater. Our landlord is tkaing forever to get it fixed. Heaters can be dangerous but so can cold weather. Please no one let your house get colder than 65 degrees. Thsi can be deadly for gliders.
