Is it ok to pick up gliders like you pick up a cat or should you let them crawl into your hand.

Gliders should always come to your hand or you can "scoop" them up. They don't have "naps" on their neck like cats do, if that is what you are talking about.
By picking them up like a cat you are going to cause them to not trust your hands ... which is exactly what you don't want to do. They must feel that your hands are a safe place and will do nothing to harm them.
If your glider will not crawl onto your hand, then scooping would be your best option.

do oyu mean scruff them? I wouldnt do that if i were you (that could hurt them cause they dont have x-tra skin there like cats or ferrits..)...you could pick them up around their middle (just DONT pull on them if they cling to the bars..you could hurt their feet) the best way though is just like you said..let them come to you..they will probably like you better if you do that anyway smile

Hey, go to the links section on top of the page here and go to Bourbon's Glider Info Page and then click on the box for Trust, Bonding, Biting, Holding info and go to the section titled holding and it will tell you the best way for holding them. Pretty much, it's more like they hold you. Reading the whole page wouldn't hurt as well since it does sound like you may be a new owner and it has a lot of good tips on it for you. Bourbon's Glider Info page is made for the new owner. wink

Gliders do not like to be picked up like you would a cat...either scoop them in your hand...or make your hand into a V so that they walk onto it. Holding a glider can make them very upset...you can get bit really hard...not to mention that it could hurt them.
