We're from Germany and have two gliders. Now they are sick and the problem is to found a vet who knows enough about gliders.
Our Skippy showing the symptomes of hing leg paralysis and we are very worried about it. We are really sure that they had a deficiency on calcium and vitamin D. Our vet gave us a cat preparate with various vitamins and minerals. 10 days have passed and we can see that there improving. Since 4 months we coudn't take them out of there cage. They are hanging with her claws on our shirts or an the floor. Could this have been the beginning of the deficiency? Has anyone made the same experience?

The claws and teeth as well as legs are all signs of defiency. Especially since you already know there is a problem that is preexisting. The fact is when the muscles start to relax, as in a protein defiency, their teeth may SEEM like they are growing and the nails as well, the reason is simple. The muscles that are used to hold and control them are not working properly. I will try to contact a gentleman in Germany that has gliders, and has a vet as well. He also has made modifcations to my diet to accomadte him in germany.

I don't know if they have this in Germany but this is a fast-acting suppliment that my vet prescribes that you can buy over the counter. It is called Neo-Calglucon. It is a children's calcium suppliment that is liquid. You can find it in the pharmacy section of a drugstore probably in the vitimin section. Give a couple of drops orally twice a day for 5 days then start up a powdered suppliment. Are reptiles popular in Gremany? If they are your vet also has a calcium shot that he can give your glider. Call around asking for reptile knowledgeable vets. This same problem occurs in reptiles, so the vet should know what to do.
