She is doing so well! Eating much better and I've started feeding her 3 frozen crickets a day in addtition to her one mealie (which she is still a little piggy about!) Last night she barked for the very first time! I went to bed around 3:30 after staying up playing for a few hours, went to bed, and less than a minute later thought I heard a funny noise. I was really quiet, but as soon as she saw me in the dark she stopped. I turned on a distant light and she was holding on to her cage door telling me she needed more attention! I was so excited that she really recognized me and her ability to vocalize. We're not 100% bonded yet, but she has stopped biting and only crabs when I take her from her pouch, like to put her in the travel pouch or to wake her up. She still tries to sleep til 3am if I let her, but I'm trying very patiently to wake her by 1am instead. She was still up at 11:30 this morning playing. Sorry to ramble, but no one seems to understand my excitement at this monumental event! It's like a baby saying their first word, but they all think I'm nuts. LOL...but I can't help being a proud mommy!

Nonsense, we all know exactly how you feel. I am even more excited at how well YOU are responding to "barking" training. You know, the one where glider barks and mom comes running Don't worry ... we've all been there and still doing that Keep up the good work. And you're right. It is an excellent sign that she stopped barking as soon as she saw you. You are definitely making excellent progress ... both of you, hehehe

So glad you're enjoying your new baby! I love all of mine to pieces. I'll never forget the first time one of my first gliders barked. I hadn't had BeBop or GG very long. This was nearly 5 years ago when not much was known about gliders. Anyway, if there was any way to escape, GG would; she'd "hole up" somewhere sleeping and hiding until she got hungry, then she'd come back to her cage - usually in 24 hours. Then there was the night she got away just after eating. I couldn't find her anywhere and panic set in....I fell asleep with the lights and the tv on. About 2 am when I was sound asleep, I awoke to the bark that would wake the dead! GG was waiting at her cage: She wanted in right then. About my gliders: Usually when they escape, the first thing they do is jump onto my bed and run right over the top of my face. One day one of the "juvies" escaped and was sleeping alongside me in bed...I woke up sensing it to find her. Altho gliders pretend not to be so smart, they really are very intelligent animals - often exhibiting one trial learning.
