I have a pair of gliders and the female is just over 5 mos. old. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed her pouch seemed a little puffy and just recently noticed it looks like one side of her pouch is fuller than the other, as if she's carrying one baby. Has anyone ever heard of a glider this young being pregnant?

lISA, SUGAR GLIDERS -LIKE PEOPLE CAN HAVE BABIES AT DIFFERENT AGES. FOR EXAMPLE, MY JJ CAME OUT OF GG'S POUCH 2/97. (I ACQUIRED GG AND BEBOP IN 4/96 - THEY WERE WILD CAUGHTS.) I'M PRETTY SURE GG HAD AND LOST BABIES THE PREVIOUS FALL/WINTER BECAUSE OVERNIGHT HER BULGING POUCH WENT FLAT. AT ANY RATE, JJ HAD HER FIRST BABY OOP 11/97. THAT BABY JAMIE JOY DID NOT HAVE HER FIRST UNTIL WINTER/99. JAMIE'S BABY, JENNA JOY HASN'T HAD A BABY YET. ALL THAT JUST ILLUSTRATES THAT THERE IS A WIDE VARIANCE AS TO WHEN A GLIDER HAS HER FIRST BABY. HOPE THE INFO HELPS! HAPPY TURKEY DAY...BE SURE TO SHARE WITH YOUR GLIDERS.
