ok, I just bought a sugar glider from a breeder. the baby was just weaned, and eats food fine, but i need more help with diets. his favorite food is oranges. the big problem is that the breeder i got him from fed him dog food, and only dog food. i read a message about bones growing wrong in malnourished babies, and it freaked me out! mine moves great though. anyways, please help me with the diet and maybe some signs to look for incase the glider develops problems because of his past food. thanks. also i am thinking of purchasing him a female, what websites are good for that?

Get Caroline MacPherson's book SUGAR GLIDERS; the publisher is Barrons, and you should be able to get it at any major bookstore for less than $10. This is a MUST HAVE for any sugar glider owner. You'll find a very helpful reference book. (Your glider should be getting about 70% fruit (some veggies too), 30% protein - mealworms, crickets, boiled egg with shell, microwaved chicken or turkey without skin, fat, seasoning. Mine also get yogurt, yogurt drops, repcal. I also try to feed veggies higher in Ca...very, very essential for your glider. Diet is crucial for your new baby. I also give them monkey biscuit which they devour as a treat.
