Looks like i missed a lot on my posts
but how im looking at it is no one crossed borders
sure we got out of hand a little but at no point did we ever ignore a person in need of help
and to you eric i dont even know what to say
you warned us last night, acted a little rashly
and we heeded your warning and went on to the 18+ room
following that was the shutdown oif the chat
my only question is why
i mean does it bother you that we want to have a good time? a lot of us on this room do a lot to help other glider owners with questions and problems.
i really dont know what to say
i just think that what happened was totally wrong you could have but a gliders life at risk last night
but hey im just voicing my opinion and if i get banned for it so be it
there ive said what im going to say on the subject
just remember eric we are the ones that keep your room going

Ok... I have sat back and read all these posts about the chat.. and was not going to say a word, as I had already "spoke" to Eric directly, but this is getting outa hand... plus I have never been one to keep my mouth shut... so here are my two cents worth...
Yeah, sure it is great to goof around and chat.. and have a good time.. and there are literally 1000's of rooms to do pretty much whatever you wish too.
This, however, is supposed to be a Sugar Glider "Topic" room where the "Co-Owner" of this site has requested that you follow certain rules. They are not outlandish rules, or hard to follow.. they simply state.. and I quote;
The Rules:
1. Be courteous - Say hello to people and watch your temper.
2. Watch your mouth - Don't use any bad words.
3. Have fun - Don't get upset if you don't agree with someone.
4. No Flooding - Don't type the same thing over and over again, it makes it difficult to read what people are saying if you flood.
5. Do not give out personal information to anyone. - Personal information should be kept personal, people do not need to know your personal business.
This whole business started when certain people, and I must admit I have been one of them, have "bent" the rules to test what they can get away with. Now the question is, WHY?? Is it "for the good of the gliders," or just to get the thrill of making a point that you can, and you do not like rules.
Your right, we are adults, and we should be able to speak our minds, but then how is an adult to set an example by showing off our crude selves from time to time?? And as far as making sure that there are no minors in the room when we do so, this is Cyber Land... the great world of masks, where you can be any age, any sex, any color. What makes you so sure that the room is not full of teens or children, pretending to be adult?? You can never be sure.
Eric made a room were adults could go, and once again discuss glider topics, so if the occasional slip happened there would be no banning. I doubt it was his intent to create a "truth or dare" Sugar Glider Game Show, where sex and foul language are the topics. My goodness people, get a motel, or go to a site that was meant for such things.
Yes.. there is such a thing of freedom of speech.. but what about the freedom not to have to listen to topics that are not supposed to be in a room to begin with??
This is Eric's web site, and I am just glad that it is here. He should be able to run it as he see's fit, and if I do not like it.. then I'll go else where. But so far, none of the rules or conditions, for him "allowing" me to be here, are outrageous. So I see no problem in following them. And if this creates me to be a brown nose'r.. well hey.. I always did love the shades of fall and the earth.. then so be it.

Well with all of that smoke I just blew.. I got off topic a bit... I meant to add...
So as far as the chat being shut down, who's fault is it... Is it Eric's for being sick and tired of being taken advantage of, and he does not see the point or energy to keep up with it.. when everyone just wishes to tromp on him?? Those glider lovers who follow the rules.. and are there to give or take advice and help?? No.. it is those who wish to ruin it for us all, by being that of a jerk.. and not follow the rules.
What better way to control a class room, then to set rules as "If one student breaks the rules, then we all suffer." Seemed to work back in grade school, and since we are acting like children, why not do the same to us??
<shakes head> I don't understand why we cannot all be in a room and get along, and share our experiences in life without being vulgar. There are Private Message Modes, and other rooms meant for those private conversations.
Now as far as perhaps killing a glider, there are Message boards that are scanned every minute, and there are times when no one is even in the chat room to help. So how is Eric now the killer of gliders... it just goes back to what I said before, who ruined this for us all?? We did....

Thank you so much for your post!!! You were right on the money: Each and everyone is probably (and I did say PROBABLY) somewhat guilty, but what you said is absolutely right, and I hope that everyone will read your post and try to behave in a mature fashion about the whole works.

Would you talk to Eric and see if he would be willing to start again at day one not banning anyone to start. (How about warnings..would that work to let someone know they were getting out of line---ahem, in case they did not realize it???)

It truly is sad that all must pay, but that's how my dad handled things when I was growing up: All 5 of us paid the price when one of us misbehaved or acted inappropriately. In that sense I believe Eric did what he had to to regain control and that is fair.

Keep us posted! smile
